I cant get racadm to set my Role Groups it returns - ERROR: The specified object value is not valid
I have tried the command remotely and locally and it does not matter, this is on a DELL R710 DRAC Version 1.70
The syntax as follows:
racadm config -g cfgLDAPRoleGroup -o cfgLDAPRoleGroupDN -i 1 CN=blah.blah.blah,OU=groupblah,DC=domain,DC=com
ERROR: The specified object value is not valid
It doesnt matter if I make the string uppercase, lowercase, a combination of both, some of the string, none of the string. The same error happens.
Any ideas as what I am doing wrong?
First off hi and I'm a bit of a noob on servers and ESXi.
We run a Poweredge T610 running ESXi 5.0 with 6 Windows 2008 servers.
Currently we have 2 x 3TB disks, I'm not sure what RAID we are using.
I have 2 x 2TB & 1 x 1TB disks I want to add to the server.
I've put them into the machine and now I need to get ESXi to see them. I think I've worked out that this can be done with OSMA?
I downloaded OSMA 7.3 ISO for ESXi and it tells me to burn to DVD and restart the server with the disk in and then it will walk me thru.
Am I on the right track here or not?
If so, would this install and add a VM to my ESXi or overwrite my whole server?

Hi,
I've just got a new Dell R610 and I've been trying to setup the iDRAC card on it. I've successfully configured it on multiple Dell T300's and the iLO's interfaces on various models of HP servers. But for some reason I'm having severe problems with this particular one.
I think it's got an iDRAC Express card as there's no additional ethernet port on the server, just the standard 4 on-board NIC's. The iDRAC BIOS are version 1.70 which I understand is the latest.
From the iDRAC configuration screen (Ctrl+E), iDRAC and IPMI over Lan are both enabled. NIC Selection is set to shared though for Active LOM it reports 'No Active LOM'. VLANs are disabled, does the iDRAC Express support them? - once it's working I'd like to enable it if possible.
Only NIC1 (eth0) is connected to the switch. I've tried configuring it with DHCP but it never gets an address even though the OS gets one.
To eliminate the Switch/VLANs I even tried connecting NIC1 directly to another server and running tcpdump with the iDRAC configured with a static IP address (the default of 192.168.0.120). Didn't get a thing from it. I could see the arp requests going out but no responses from the iDRAC.
So how do you get the iDRAC to work??

After getting three new PowerEdge R620s setup and initially connecting to iDRAC and successfully launching the console, I updated Java to 7u51 and am now unable to launch the console. This behavior is confirmed for both Firefox and Internet Explorer.

Does anyone know where I can find a Dell Dart Frog Visio stencil? I have looked in the "rack servers" .zip stencil file but was unable to locate the server.

We recently changed the whole infrastructure, including a new UPS: (1920w) http://www.dellups.com/solutionUSS_list.asp?SOLID=793120&ResellerIDCode=1 .
We've got a VMware Essential Plus edition (with a Vcenter) and wanted to use the MUMC to manage the correct shutdown of VMs and ESX hosts.
MUMC is installed on the same VM as the Vcenter, windows firewall is disabled (Vcenter default ports are used).
The main problem is when we add the Vcenter to the virtualization module (tried login with domain\user or user@domain).
We can see this error in the log file:

The Vcenter plugin has never showed up in the Vcenter.

Notes to update the latest Chassis firmware (3.2) suggest atht when doing this CPLD is also updated.
In the notes it says to do the following:
1. Place the files onto an DOS-compatible disk (e.g., floppy, USB key, etc.).
2. Run "M910-CPLD-A02.exe" from the command prompt.
But there are no instructions on how to do this.
Has someone got some detailed steps to follow for this?

PS ITA 8.9 doesn't seem to know anything about CPLD updates which is a shame.
I've got one of the VRTX chassis with two blades installed. Now, I'm not sure what happened, but I was logged in to the CMC web interface and enabled DRAC for each of the blades, then I lost the ability to connect to the CMC. It goes straight to the switch management console. On the front LCD, CMC is never able to acquire an IP. I can't figure out what I've done. Any help and suggestions and criticisms are greatly appreciated!

we have a server R420 with iDrac7 Enterprise.
When we tried execute racadm commands we getting this message:
The current version of Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller (iDRAC)
that do not support the execution of RACADM commands.
Contact Dell customer service to upgrade to iDRAC Express or iDRAC Enterprise
The installed version of RACADM client executable that do not match the

I had some problems attaching media using Java applet on my DRAC5 card. So I updated it to the latest 1.65. The upgrade went fine, but I still couldn't attach media. So I logged in via SSH to do racadm racreboot. After the reboot I couldn't see the DRAC's website (connection reset). I logged in via SSH again and when I tried to refresh SSH keys, I got a message that the files cannot be created, because of no space left on the device. When I tried to see the keys I got an error message saying that the files are not found. When I rebooted again I got a message saying
cp: unable to open `/var/config/drachot.bak': No space left on device
cp: unable to open `/var/config/drac.cfg': No space left on device
How can I fix this?

After the usual Java update (to Java 7 Update 51) the remote console does not start any more. The java application launcher shows a "Unable to launch application"-Error. Here some more details:

I have Power edge T610 hosted ESXi 4.1 , and i need to mange HW over network through OpenManage Server Administrator installed on Windows machine , i need to know it's OK or not :
if it work : what the username and password give it to log on
if not : how i can mange the server HW
Cannot logon, just sticks at verifying details.
It seems to work for several hours after reset then suddenly wont let you logon again.. just goes back to the logon screen.
Any ideas?

I have been using Dell Repository Manager to export SUU to update firmware and driver for my servers: Dell M610, M620, R620, R720XD. When using export fearture to export bundles to SUU (OS LInux) , I had problem:Failed exporting to SUU format because: Error downloading some files (components).
I tried to remove those files but the others couldn't too and exporting process stopped (not continuting export to SUU)
Is there any way to bypass some failed files (components) to continute export SUU and download failed files?
My Dell Repository Manager's Version is latest: 1.8

I have tried loading Dell OME 1.2.1 on a couple of new servers and keep running into the same problem, The page will not load and attempts to debug.
I don't see any errors in the installutil.log. Has anyone seen this or better yet solved this? Here are the errors:

I'm running OMSA 7.3.2 on a PowerEdge 1850 server, and I get the following error :
No storage controllers detected
It used to work with a previous OMSA version, but sinced I updated the software it doesn't work anymore.
I don't know where to look for errors, could someone help me troubleshoot this ?
The operating system is CentOS 5.10 32 bits.
