idrac6/system crash

Problem:
The system crashed unexpectedly last night and it looks like an idrac crash caused it (see below coredump logs). Has anyone seen this before? If yes, is the issue a fluke, hardware issue, firmware issue, etc?

Update Dell PE R720 Fully

We  have  a new dell R720 
I need to install xenserver 6.1 on it.

However before that i need to fully update the firmware on the dell box 

I searched online and found that there is a ISO that we can download to update the firmware 

ftp.dell.com/secure//FOLDER01087307M/1/cdu_2.2_core_702.iso

But when i boot the server using this ISO , it gives me an option to update firmware and install OS.

I though it will automatically update the firmware for all devices on the Dell Box and then prompt me for XenServer CD

I am not sure which updated i need to download for R720 and where to save them .

I thought when i downloaded the cdu_2.2_core_702.iso it will auto update everything.

Could anyone please help me to know what all i need to download to fully update the new Dell R720 server

I thought this will be something like HP smart CD .

The topic is a bit odd and not sure where to put it but here is the situation.

I have a Power edge 515. I has two Gb Nic.

I noticed on my DHCP server a hostname called idrac-1SNMFP1. I have never see this before. It just sort of appeared. I ping it and it comes back that its alive and on the network, with a ip of 10.1.0.55.

I searched around and found that idrac stands for "integrated dell remote access controller. "

Ok so I go to my dell servers and with "ping 10.1.0.55 -t" on one computer start carefully pulling nw cables on the servers where I can for a second or two. I see that one of the servers indeed is the IP address. I can go into the lcd and see that this is the ip address of this servers maintenance port.

I have set up open manage on this server. Here are my questions?

1. Why did the server called idrac-etc not show up on my dhcp server before (from what I can see anyway.)

2. Is this ip address only changeable in the bios of the server. I cant see anywhere to change it in the openmanage software. Am I going to have to reboot this server to change it and can I change the name to something more friendly.

3. Why is it that I cannot get to the server from an IP address. What I mean by this is

If I put in ;

https://backup2:1311/servlet/OMSAStart?mode=omsa&vid=207122207229892

I can get to the server (its called backup2).

But if I put in the ip address eg https://10.1.0.55:1311/servlet/OMSAStart?mode=omsa&vid=207122207229892

It does not. This is the maintenance IP.

However if I put in the IP address of the server the one eg https://10.1.0.41:1311/servlet/OMSAStart?mode=omsa&vid=207122207229892

This works.

Finally

4. The two network cards that are in the server are teamed together to create one ip 10.1.0.41 They both seem to be working.

Can the two cards still be teamed BUT have two IP addresses. Cause it looks like I have 10.1.0.41 and 10.1.0.55 since both of them are ping able. I thought teaming put together the two cards so it became one nic but faster, because its two.

I've used the stand alone open manage product for a while, now I'm trying to setup a monitor server. I'm struggling finding the documentation.
I need to set up 2, one in a secure domain and one in out more public domain.
Could someone point me to some training and documentation?

Virtual Drive not show in BIOS after connected Virtual Media in iDRAC

Hi,

I got a problem using iDRAC to install from an ISO OS image to a M600 Server.

Steps I have perform are :

1. Login to iDRAC, System->Console->Launch Viewer

2. In iDRACView, Media->CD Media->ISO Image->[Select and OS .iso image]->Connect->Close

After server reboot, "boot sequence" in BIOS shown

     USB CD-ROM device (not installed)
     USB Floppy device (not installed)
     Hard drive C:
     Embedded NIc 1 MBA v4.4.4 Slot 0400

According to Dell manaul the boot sequence should show Virtual CD etc but I got everything not installed.

Server unable boot from the image but "Current Status" in Virtual Media of iDRAC is "connected.

My server is Dell M600 and iDRAC IPMI version is 2.0 and Firmware version is 1.60 (Build 3). Please help. Thank you

Is it possible to connect a server in another building via the SIP (or PEM for that matter) by routing the connection through a dedicated VLAN on managed switches?

I've tried testing this with some spare switches lying around, but I am not having any luck having the devices recognize connections to or from the KVM 2162DS, SIPs or PEMs. I realize that the connections have a short range on their own, but I am wanting to see if there is a way to connect the SIP to a switch, direct that port to a VLAN, then pipe it down some fiber to a switch in another building, and out to the KVM 2162DS.

The 2162DS is currently on Version 1.16.0.20726.

I have tried to research this, but so far have not had any luck. If someone could help with this or point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

My university is requiring me to replace the Dell SSL certificate in OMSA with a certificate from a CA. We are using InCommon.

I generated a certificate request using Microsoft IIS,. InCommon generated the certificate and sent me back links to a variety of formats.

       as X509, Base64 encoded: 
       as X509 Certificate only, Base64 encoded:

Does anyone know what kind of certificate I need, and exactly how to install it in the apache server that runs Dell OMSA.

I have a power edge 2850 with an IB110 SBE Log Disabled error, I have ried reseating the dimms,but now i get the following message

Mempry write/read failure at 0A0E4BCC, read 0EE00EE1 expecting 00E10EE1 Decreasing available memory. What can I do to resolve this issue?

Hi, when i updated my OSMA 5.xxx to 7.3.0. It would not open in IE browser anymore. The errrors says " internet explorer cannot open the webpage". I uninstalled the older version and then installed the latest one. My system is windows 2003 R2 standard and PE 2950 box. Thanks in advanced.

In total we got 15 ESXi hosts running within 2 Datacenters, Data 1 and Data 2.

Data 1 has 1 cluster with 1 ESXi host running

Data 2 has 2 clusters, Cluster 1 and Cluster 2.

Cluster 1 has 9 ESXi Hosts

Cluster 2 has 5 ESXi Hosts

I have been able to add al hosts from Data 1 - cluster 1 in to the Appliance.

But when we try to add the ESXi hosts from Cluster 2 we get the following error:

Configure OMSA Failed, Reason: OMSA Configuration failed: Could not contact the given vCenter server due to wrong credentials. Check the username and password.

OMSA is already installed on the ESXi hosts and the connection profiles are working.

We rebooted the appliance just to make sure but the errors keeps returning.

I think it has something to do with 2 Clusters in 1 datacenter.

I'am also looking for a e-mail address or phone number to log a support call.

Does anyone know what's the latest version of DLCI for SCCM 20007? Also, I notice when I check the downloads available for the newest servers, I don't see a DLCI component available. Will there be a new release coming in the short term (30 days)?

Cannot update R520 BIOS and firmware from Repository Manager

Hi!

My R520 is running ESXi, I using Repository Manager to export a linux boot disk to update server BIOS and firmware. After I complete the update process, my server just updated iDRAC firmware to latest one, BIOS and others firmware (e.g. Lifecycle controller, H710 SAS RAID controller) still not upgrade to latest one.

Did anyone experienced the same issue and what is your solution?

i have a pe830 and installed a drac 4/p, but booting up i get.:

Remote Access Controller detected

Initializing Remote Access Controller
!!*** Error: Remote Access Controller initialization failure ***

but i can still login to both web interface and ssh
i have flashed bios, bmc and drac to the newest firmware.
ive tryed to put the drac controller in an pe850 and it worked fine in there.

anyone have any ideas to what causing this or what i can do to fix it ?

Do you know when the newest version (or patch) will come out? I hope soon !! I'm asking because I have Dell Openmanage Essentials installed ver. 1.2.1 and our company requires FIPS to be enabled on MS OS'es. So at the moment it's not working, and I cannot make an exception in GPO to have FIPS disabled for the server with OME (or any other for that matter).

OME helped my dept. out quite a bit during last year's new server rollout on a international scale, and has become quite a useful tool!

We have an M710HD blade that we cannot remote console to. Also iDRAC web page does not come up. In the CMC status page it says "Lifecycle Controller may not be enabled" next to the blade. The blade chassis is at a remote location. How can I enable the Lifecycle Controller if I can't see the screen to go into the BIOS?

I've been running some vunlnerability assements using the Openvas tool.

After upgrading the OMSA on servers to 7.3.0.1, Openvas shows this for all 1311 tcp ports:

NVT: wpoison (nasl version) (OID: 1.3.6.1.4.1.25623.1.0.11139)

The following URLs seem to be vulnerable to BLIND SQL injection
techniques : 

/HelpViewer?file=Redirect&app=oma+AND+1=1

An attacker may exploit this flaws to bypass authentication
or to take the control of the remote database.

Solution: Modify the relevant CGIs so that they properly escape arguments

I've been reading the Users Guide, and there is a lot of good information about how to set up SSH and use PKI, and 2-factor, but that all seems to apply only to the command line. How can I secure the Web interface? Particularly I would like to use keys or a secure token to access the Web Interface. Can this be done?

Anything I need to take into consideration when moving an iDRAC6 Enterprise card from one r710 to another r710? The destination r710 already has iDRAC6 express so I am covered there. I don't see any license export option like iDRAC7 so I'm guessing that doesn't apply to iDRAC6.

Will network configuration be retained once the card is installed in the destination server?

So anything else I need to worry about? Thanks.
